Lisa graduated from Union University in Jackson, Tennessee, in 1980, with a Bachelor of Music degree. She taught piano and conducted church choirs before choosing a legal career. In 1993, she graduated summa cum laude from Salmon P. Chase College of Law with numerous academic awards. She is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Ohio and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.
